The Automated Financial Information System (AFIS) is the cornerstone of NAVAIR’s Fleet Readiness Centers Financial Management Center of Excellence. It is a joint financial planning, management and reporting system for NAVAIR’s Depots. The AFIS software is an application for creating, viewing, editing, amending, saving, and printing Financial and Cost Statements commonly used for the budgeting, planning, phasing, and execution of all financial aspects of industrial plant operations.
AFIS provides responsive single financial reporting and accountability by area command, the capability to assess the level of success, and retain flexibility to re-engage with precision by allowing both the local commander and command leadership the ability to maintain cost-wise readiness. AFIS consolidates reporting processes and preparation of financial reporting between command headquarters and fleet readiness command centers. It allows plant managers to follow the course of operations and provides a logical and reliable means for measuring progress against plan.
